But you know, I have made a startling discovery. I am totally into all thing vintage at the moment. I picked up these records just before Christmas at the local Salvo’s. I have been looking for some gorgeous covers for scrapbooking and I think therse one’s really are perfect.

And not that you can see much of it, but that fantastic MGM one made it’s way on to this layout I have been creating this week.

Yeah, well, this is the second one I have made this week because halfway through it, Amy decided to ‘help’. Needless to say, the layout could not be salvaged and this is a new one!

And I have this book on it’s way from The Book Depository. Seriously the BEST book store. Ever.

Although, I really should finish the quilt I am making for my bed before I start on anything else. Only about 50 more blocks to make….. eek……

I got to set the sketch this month and I have made it quite simple as I want people to add their own indiviual style and flair.

I just thought I would drop in and share the off-the-page project from my Scrapbooking Memories Master’s entry that failed to impress the judges.

I am getting quite proficient with the garage tools. I used a jigsaw to cut the houses out of MDF and since I couldn’t find a frame that was the right size, with the postage size requirements etc, I made one myself! I bought a length of moulding from Bunnings, measured the 45 degree angles and sawed that sucker up. Then I superglued the moulding to a piece of MDF, puttied it up, sanded and painted it.

I turned out much better than I thought it would!

Before I finish my first post of 2011, I just want to congratulate my mate Sarah for her 2 HM’s and also Nic and Lou, who are all Master’s in my mind.

And that’s all I have time for as I am on my way out the door to go to work.

The first photo is of Amy with her new umbrella. It was the first time it had rained since she got it, so of course she wanted to try it out! She thought it was the best thing ever.

The next photo is of Luke, Amy and Kate. Kate has gorgeous ringlets so I was trying to take a photo of her. The others wanted to join in. Who am I to say no to that? Even if they wouldn’t stay still!

Then onto Father’s Day. Unfortunately the photos of Steve opening his presents didn’t turn out very good, but at least I took a before shot of them. He was very spoiled and got a book, DVD, socks, a tool belt and a keyring.

When we went to Melbourne in July, we picked up one of these eggs from the aquarium. We have had one previously but it didn’t get very big, but the one we saw at the aquarium was huge so we decided to have another crack at it. I mean, how hard is it to put an egg in water and let it grow? Very, apparently.

The next photos is some flowers the neighbour across the road gave Amy. They are out of her garden. Amy loves flowers and when we go for walks she always asks me to collect her some. When I went to cross the road to go home, I got swooped by a magpie. Ugh.

Steve bought some trees. They were nothing but a stem and a root ball. The looked dead and I didn’t think they would green up. Of course it was the middle of winter when he got them and they are deciduous, but it didn’t stop me from thinking they weren’t alive! They are weepeing birches and they finally got their first leaves of the season.

The stump. Well. Where do I start with this? This stump has been a feature of our backyard since we bought the house. It was chopped down many years ago we have been told and it has turned into very hard wood. So hard that a chainsaw wouldn’t go through it. Steve had been hacking away at it slowing with an axe. A few chops each day. Without much success. Then in winter he got an idea. He would burn it out. It took many weeks to do, but he got it out by digging a great big hole around the roots and setting fire to some hot coals every night. He had to do it slowly as he didn’t want to hurt the fence. He finally got it out though. We are going to have a celebration and burn that sucker to smitherines.

Here is my layout I created. I did mist the acetate, probably shouldn’t have as now it just looks dirty! LOL!

A while ago Sarah and myself saw a call for envelopes in Scrapbook Creations ages ago and thought it would be an interesting twist on creating a layout. Don’t get me wrong, I am certainly not a ‘scrap for a call’ type of girl. I just thought this would kind of be fun. Fun it was once we finally got our envelopes! And look at those old school picture hangers. I love using old crap!

And it turns out that our hubby’s lived in the same street and used to be friends. Small world, huh?

I have also been scrapping. Twice this week, and both times I walked away with a layout done, which for me is great as I am a bit slow when it comes to scrapping.

This here one is for the Apple Blossom Studio dt. I just adore their stamps and I love using them. I even managed to squeeze three onto this layout. Ah my little girl, where does the time go?

The next layout was one that I had been thinking about for a couple of weeks now. My friend Sarah and I thought that aqua and red would be a great colour combo. Yep. The colours worked so well together and I love the layout I created and I finally scrapped some of those slip and slide photos!

Yesterday I went to my niece’s 1st birthday! I had a fantastic time catching up with family and friends. My sister’s besties, Barb, made the cake. She lives in Orange NSW if anyone lives near there and wants a cake made.

So, my Scrapbooking Memories Master’s entry went last wednesday. I spent more hours on my projects than I care to count, I have given it my absolute all. But now that it’s gone, I am at peace. I no longer have to look at it and worry that it’s looks ok. I know longer feel the need to tweak it every time I walk past it. It’s now out of my hands. And while I have written about it here, I feel no excitement. I am not allowing myself. No expectations = No disappointments. And I feel good about that.
